Damn. I wasn't aware of this. Thanks for sharing this; it's important to understand some conspiracy theories' implications. We just don't know how far these people can go. Ironically, thanks to those doctors, nurses, scientists, etc., we can live healthily, discover new things, and spot things that are not quite as right as we thought. That's why science is so powerful.
This is one of the reasons why I think science communication is crucial. We will not change these people's minds, but we can make others aware of the problem. Thanks for sharing this!
Amen to that. When I debate others on these conspiracy theories online, I know I’m unlikely to get through to that specific person; instead, it’s the people who might be reading the exchange but are not involved in the debate that I’m really talking to. It’s important for them to see these theories challenged, and comprehensively. I can spend hours on a single reply just to ensure I’ve got all my sources and have explained things clearly and effectively as I can.
I admire that. Thank you so much for taking the time and work to debate with these people! We appreciate it :) I always consider people like you like online heroes haha
I find It really interesting and ironic that some of these people are actual nazi sympathizers.
What a wasted occasion to demand accountability from big pharma. It's impossible to listen to these antivaxxers given the horrible things they routinely spew, but at the very core of it, there might have been once valid concerns that have been utterly corrupted by these people's lack of touch with reality. These people have turned against the only people (scientists, medical doctors) who can actually scrutinize pharmaceutical companies for the sake of everyone's good. We need to spread scientific literacy to avoid getting stuck between two fires: big pharma on one side, antivaxxers on the other. Thank you for getting this out to the public, it's a really important service.
We saw it all too often during the pandemic here in Australia where medical staff (doctors, nurses, orderlies, cleaners) were regularly being attacked by irate people upset about what was happening, even though it clearly wasn’t the fault of the medical staff. Not only did it happen in hospitals, but also at GP clinics & even paramedics weren’t immune from being attacked.
…What sickened me was trying to figure out WHY people would attack someone trying to actually HELP them??? Sure, we gradually figured it out that it was all a hoax but that was no reason to physically assault someone trying to help those who were sick!!! Here’s hoping we NEVER have to endure that crap again in our lifetime. Medical staff are still enduring physical attacks from time to time but that’s mostly from patients “high as a kite” on stuff like crystal meth, ice, cocaine that causes devastating effects.
We sure did my friend. No matter what our views on the events, the medical staff were only doing what they've always done: trying their best to help people, no matter the circumstances. And the circumstances were horrendous. Thank you for commenting <3
It’s a pleasure mate. I don’t like hospitals at the best of times but whenever I’ve been a patient in hospital or am being treated by paramedics, I’m always respectful & courteous to the staff who are doing their best to help me.
