I'm happy I started using a password manager and 2-factor auth at least in doing a few things right. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us who don't know enough to know how bad security got 😊.
Every couple of mos I get a data breach notification and often it's some company I don't even have a direct relationship with - just a downstream service provider. The letters are always the same - we're sorry we lost your data, SSN, DOB, address, etc. here's a year free on Equifax, yeah you gotta give them all your info too. We good right?
"It required active knowledge, skill and sometimes patience." Sometimes is the crux with patience, ha. I have thoughts on cybersecurity, I wish I had organized and expanded on them by now, but I'm glad you're here for it. The Black Hat convention was next door to the theatre I worked in for 6 years. Nothing fun happened though. You are correct, gray is more fun.
God you have no idea how desperately I wanted to go to Black Hat. I'm so jealous you got to be right next door. The reason for limited fun outside of the convention grounds is because it was also full of feds ;)
Had I known then I would have done what I could to get you in. I wasn't able to participate because I was bound to an electric cave. If there's one especially bold and clumsy thing that stands out about me around here so far, those details burden me more than any hat I've worn. The closest I got was reading Mitnick's The Art of Invisibility ... in the fluorescent corner of shallow halls, alone. Ha. Sorry for the vagueness. I'm looped silly!
Good to know. Thanks.
This is terrifying 😱 I’m so crap with stuff like this 🤦🏻♀️ thanks for informing / educating me.

You’re doing better than most people already!! Glad to be of service :)

Yep we good, but then Equifax be like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Equifax_data_breach
;_;
Bastards. You have ONE job
This one used to be the #1 worst data breach in world history, before of course DOGE. DOGE is basically a gigantic unintentional honeypot now.
Ha I just recognized that illustration!
